How to Get the Cards

People can purchase cards when Scouts our set up outside their local Foodland, Times, Safeway, or any other location from now until theend of April. They can stop by our local office and purchase one from the Scout Shop, or buy a card from a Scout that will be going door to door through the neighborhoods.

Why Buy a Makahiki Card?

  • More than 50% of the proceeds benefit LOCAL Scout units for their program, camping, and activities
  • Remaining proceeds benefit the LOCAL Aloha Council for their programs, camping, and activities

How to Sell

Three Types of Methods

  • Show and Sell - Set up a sales booth and sell cards on the spot
  • Door to Door - Take your Makahiki Card for a trip around the neighborhood (Don't forget the local businesses)
  • Sell at Work - A great way for adults to help their Scout

Do's & Don'ts

DO's

  • Greet each person you encounter
  • Sell with another Scout or with an adult. NEVER SELL ALONE!
  • Say "Thank You!", whether or not the person buys a Makahiki Card

Don'ts

  • Never enter anyone's home
  • Never sell after dark, unless with an adult
  • Don't carry large amounts of cash
  • Always walk on the sidewalk and driveway

   A. It's a program where I have fun while learning valuable life skills

   A. We are selling a Makahiki Card for $12
   B. The Makahiki is a community event to show what scouting is about

Step 3: What does the card support? Why buy one?

   A. Helps me attend camp where I learn valuable life skills like cooking, survival skills, physics, etc.
   B. Helps support Scouting in Hawaii

Step 4: Ask for the sale!

   A. So please buy a Makahiki card from me because it's not just a fundraiser, it's my future.
